We're Still Strolling...

...but we'll surface from our book journeys more sporadically.

For years, as we watched book coverage in newspapers and magazines shrink around the world, we kept asking ourselves the same question: what could we do, as readers, to highlight all of the great books and writers who weren’t getting the attention that they once would have received? Over the past year and a half, we’ve tried to answer that question with this website. We founded Sacred Trespasses in August 2015 to focus on the books and writers who excite us and who deserve a wider readership. We began the website because we wanted to engage with literature and other readers and to share our mutual excitement.

Over the past eighteen months, we’ve been happy to bring you updates to Sacred Trespasses twice each week. We’ve published our own articles as well as features, reviews and creative work by award-winning novelists, poets, journalists, teachers, PhD candidates, librarians, artists, photographers, booksellers and readers from Australia, the United States, Europe and South America. Our articles now number 160, including Reading Around the World in Cuba, Syria, China, Sudan and Brazil, Coffee Break reviews to help you find your next great read, interviews with book people, new poetry, plays, art and photography.

As of today, Sacred Trespasses will step back from these twice-a-week updates. Over the coming months, we look forward to offering more reviews, new work, lagniappe and other features, but we will do so less regularly.

We thank you for your continued support over these months. As a subscriber to Sacred Trespasses, you will still receive occasional articles, and we look forward to discovering new voices, books and stories to share with you.

Please keep in touch. Please let us know what you’re reading and what we should be reading. We promise to do the same.

And we look forward to continuing to read widely and wildly with you.

With best wishes,
Jennifer Levasseur

You never finish reading, even if you finish all your books, just as you never finish living, even though death is certain.
